Here is the practical side of it. You can still build damage, but you are not forced to wear paper-thin gear just to make the combo work. If you are putting the build together, do not overthink the first upgrades. Spark wants coverage and cast rate. Comet wants elemental scaling and a bit of punch. The ailment engine wants consistency. That is the order most people end up caring about anyway.

  1. Get more projectiles if you can.
  2. Stack cast speed early.
  3. Push elemental damage next.
  4. Add crit once the basics feel stable.

There is a good reason the build feels better as gear improves. Every little upgrade helps both halves of the setup at once. Spark fires more often, ailments land faster, and Comet gets more chances to clear the room before anything reaches you.

Bossing takes a little more care, but not much. Keep your Spark uptime clean. Keep standing where the hits actually connect. Once the ailment cycle is stable, Comet keeps doing heavy work in the background. If your gear is decent, the damage checks out. If your Ward is solid, you are not panicking every time the boss winds up.

Small things that make it feel better

Mana sustain matters more than people admit. So does movement speed. So does not greed-casting when you should just reposition. This build rewards players who stay active and keep the rhythm going, instead of trying to force perfect play every single second.

It is not a sleepy build. It has that fast, punchy feel that a lot of caster setups try for and never quite hit. Here, the combo actually lands. Spark feeds the engine, ailments keep the trigger alive, and Comet does the ugly work.
